1/2 cup fresh milk or evaporated milk
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 egg whites
1/4 cup powdered sugar (confectioner's sugar)

Procedure:
1. Mix the first 4 ingredients.
2. On an other bowl. mix thoroughly both egg whites and the powdered sugar until it will become an icing. Use electric mixer.
3. Fold the flour mixture with the icing and mix manually.
4. Pour 2 tablespoons on each cups and steam for 12-15 minutes.

Note: you can also add cheese as toppings. hehehe, that makes it puto cheese.

Very easy but yummy! Good luck!

If you have read my previous post here, I have mentioned that I have lot of egg whites stocked since I only used the egg yolks of 20 pieces of eggs. But finally, I've got a recipe of "puto cheese" from my best friend whom I called overseas all the way to Philippines. Hmm.. That makes this puto cheese expensive due to overseas call rate, heehee.

It's a good thing that this puto cheese only need the egg whites. Therefore, when making Leche Flan (which only uses egg yolks), I have to make puto cheese too, to make use of the egg whites. Both are great for desserts and snacks, respectively.

Ok, going back to this puto cheese I made, my hubby loved it! He even brought some when he went out with his friends. As a wife, it feels flattering when someone loves and appreciates your effort. Especially me, 'coz I'm not really into cooking or baking. So from now on, I will do my best to learn more recipes to bake and cook.

I regretted now that I approved when my hubby asked if it's fine with me to change our Internet provider. I thought it would make the speed better but instead it turns out to worst. shucks... I hate this! It makes me too lazy. Lazy to visit, drop and read other blogs, to make posts in my own blog, to watch my favorite online TV, to download movies from torrents and my many other daily routine on the internet. Now, I feel like I'm back home in the Philippines because our Internet speed there is also slow. Maybe not all places (Islands) of the Philippines but in my own hometown (province), it's kinda slow. tsk tsk tsk...

If you have noticed, I delete some of the widgets in my blog because I don't want viewing it too slow. It's one of the reasons visitors not coming back neither dropping on my blog. Since my hubby noticed that changing our Internet provider affected me a lot, my moods and my daily routines, he promised me that we will apply for a new one after three (3) months. wohoo.. happy me AGAIN..

For the last three days, there was a gathering that my husband and I attended (it's a religious works). Women stayed in a house different from where men stayed. Participants came from different countries. To mention are from Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Romania and truly yours, from Philippines. Ah, also from Japan, too. Each of us brought some foods to eat. But for me, I have nothing with me for the 1st two days except for a ready-made food bought from market because I am not a good cook. Until the last day came, my husband decided that I must make something or bring something for them. We finally ended with Leche Flan. Thoroughly, I searched the net for the best Leche Flan recipe. Tarrrrang, I found one and made three parts. Two parts I brought for the ladies and one part brought by my husband for the men. Arriving to the place, I immediately kept the sweets in the refrigerator to make it cold. After the dinner that night, I confidently served the Leche Flan. Guess what? Everyone was asking the recipe. They really loved it! Wow, I cannot believe that someone loved what I cooked (flattered me, hehe). Also, when my husband fetched me for us to go home, he told me that his friends also loved that Leche Flan. One of them asked my husband to tell to me to teach his wife how to make the Leche Flan. Funny, funny funny. I should have made it earlier to boost to others the Filipino recipe. Here's the Filipino Leche Flan recipe:

Ingredients:

• 10 egg yolks
• 1 can (390g) condensed milk
• 1 can (390g) evaporated milk
• 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or lemon essence

The caramel:

• 1 cup sugar
• 3/4 cup water

Procedure:

1. Combine the sugar & water. Bring to a boil for a few minutes until the sugar caramelize in a saucepan.
2. Dispense the caramelized sugar into aluminum moulds (you can use any shape: oval, round or square) Spread the caramel on the bottom of the moulds.
3. Blend well the evaporated milk, condensed milk, egg yolks and vanilla by hand or blender.
4. Soothingly dispense the mixture on top of the caramel on the aluminum moulds. Load the moulds to about 1 to 1 1/4 inch thick.
5. Cover moulds individually with aluminum foil.
6. Steam for about 20 minutes
7. Let cool then refrigerate.
8. To serve: run a thin knife around the edges of the mould to loosen the Leche Flan. Place a platter on top of the mould and quickly turn upside down to position the golden brown caramel on top.

Note: You can tell when the Leche Flan is cooked by inserting a knife. If it comes out clean, it is cooked.

_xx_

Now, I've got a lot of egg whites stocked in a bowl. I am thinking of making a "puto cheese."
